Relapse Retail Store Closes

That's the story, and it seems to be true. It's always sad when a good record store closes down. BOO!
We're talking about the physical store on 4th Street. This has nothing to do with the label as a whole, or online ordering.

Philly Bicycle Use Up Compared To Last Year

I have a feeling it's even higher than they report, but The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia group on yahoo posted some interesting info about increased number of riders. We know sales of new scooters have literally doubled, not info on what bicycle shops are saying. This was a count of actual bikes crossing some key bridges at key times of day. They compared the results to last year.

click -read more- to see their stats........

Philly Wi-Phi Lives! It's Free!

It seems like every story covering Tuesday's press conference got different details, but the specifics should shake out soon. The point is that as of right now the (almost) city-wide Wi-Fi is currently working for free. The new company has *some* ideas to keep it that way, and will put up hardware to cover the last 20 percent of the city. I tried using it in a few locations around town, and while it's not as fast as a cable modem, it works. Yippee!
JC Dobbs Returns To South Street!!!

JC Dobbs became the Pontiac Grill in 1996, and the shows ended. Anyone that was in Philly from 1996 back probably saw some great shows there (I won't get all nostalgic listing some of the classic shows). We heard about this resurrection a few days ago, and were not sure what that meant. The only websites we found were nostalgic sites to the old days, but there are a few (all ages) shows coming up that would pertain to people reading this. I guess we'll find out more over the next week as we get closer to the official reopening.
What's more punk than adopting a rat?

FWD:

Dear friend of Hugs for Puppies, please read on - we desperately need
help saving the lives of the animals that have already endured a life
of misery in a lab and are now going to be killed UNLESS we can find
homes for them!

We
(the Humane League of Philadelphia - Hugs for Puppies has changed its
name) were recently contacted by a local university that is set to kill
70 rats they used in psychology experiments. However, the school is
willing to turn over to us any rats that we can find homes for. We are
desperately seeking people who would be interested in adopting one or
several of these extremely sweet, sociable rats. Adoption would
literally mean saving their lives, since we are not going to be able to
find homes for all 70 and any that we cannot find homes for will be
gassed to death.

All of the rats are white albinos, are male, are very friendly with people and with one another.

If you or anyone you know can adopt one or several of these rats, or help us find homes, it would be EXTREMELY appreciated!

If
you have any questions, feel free to reply to us via myspace, email us
at info AT thehumaneleague DOT com or call me at (deleted). We will be
picking up an initial group of the rats late next week, and are in many
cases able to drive the rats to you (or near you) if you are not able
to pick them up.

Thank you!
Nick

www. thehumaneleague. com
